In this section we are directing visitors to calculators we have reviewed. This does not mean to say that all aspects of these calculators are necessarily correct but we think they are the most useful on the web at the moment.

Tax Central tax tools

This is a very useful tax tool containing various different calculators - you can check your payslip and your tax code, check if you are due a tax rebate and if so how much and work out student loan repayments. There are a number of planning calculators such as a pension relief calculator, annuity relief calculator, Inheritance tax calculator. In addition you can find benefit in kind calculators for employees and some investment calculators to help you work out your bank interest & dividends. Finally you can work out what stamp duty or VAT you might have to pay.

Pension credit calculator

This is the Directgov pension credit calculator. It is quite easy to use - you simply follow through the prompts on each page.

However it does not yet take into account any tax you may pay on your state retirement pension - make sure you deduct the tax you pay or ought to be paying on it and include only the net amount in the state pension box.

Moneymadeclear

These are the Financial Services Authority (FSA) Money Made Clear useful tools on various topics designed to help you manage your money.

State Pension age calculator

This calculator allows you to work out when you will be entitled to receive state pension, how far you are from that date and when you should receive your claim pack.

Legal Aid Calculator

This is a calculator to enable you to work out if you may be financially eligible for CLA-funded help (previously called "civil legal aid"). You need to bear in mind that the results of the calculator cannot be taken as a guarantee that you will receive CLA-funded help.

DirectGov Benefits Adviser

This calculator is an interactive tool to help you find out if what benefits and tax credits you may be entitled to.
