Welcome to the migrants section of the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group website. This section of the website is designed to provide migrants and their advisers with access to information on how to deal with the tax and benefits issues faced by migrants coming to and leaving the UK. Throughout this part of the site we use the term ‘migrant’ to mean anyone coming to live, work or study in the UK.

What information and help can I find in this section?

For those who want to find out basic information, we have produced a guide which gives very basic information about the UK tax and benefits system. It includes a useful glossary which explains some of the more technical words.

For those who want more information, we have produced a set of factsheets. These factsheets cover the topics in the basic guide in a little more detail.

For advisers, or migrants who want to understand more about their tax position, this section of the website explains the topics covered by the guide and factsheets in more detail.

If you are not an adviser, we suggest you read the guide first; if you need further information on certain topics, you can refer to the factsheets and then the website content.
