Inland Revenue standards - continued

Following our News item on 10 February bemoaning the lack of published targets for standards of customer service for 2003/04, the Revenue have reacted with commendable alacrity and now published them today on their website. A range of questions remains unanswered.

It is difficult to make sense of them or make meaningful comparisons with earlier years as many of the targets have been 'rebased from the end of September' (whatever that may mean). We will have to wait for the publication of actual results in order to assess what progress has been achieved in providing improved customer service.

We look forward to seeing the 2004/05 targets before 6 April 2004 and the results for the current year shortly after that date.
