Sharing and publishing data for public benefit - LITRG comments

The LITRG does not disagree with data sharing amongst Government departments provided it is of clear benefit to taxpayers and with adequate safeguards. It is crucial that the safeguards are robust but we are not convinced from the research that this is the case. We strongly urge HMRC to set out the cost savings, benefits to taxpayers and safeguards before the policy on data sharing is finally agreed.
