The Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) is warning owners of newly formed limited companies that it is unlikely they are eligible for the Self Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS) grant – even if HMRC contact them and the eligibility checker says they may qualify. This comes as HMRC contact people inviting them to check their eligibility and claim for the SEISS grant.

⚠️ Since the publication of this news article it has been confirmed that the closing date for making a claim for the first SEISS grant is 13 July. we now understand that the grant will be treated as taxable income in the year of receipt, so in the 2020/21 tax year.
