Universal Credit rollout inquiry

We welcome this opportunity to provide further evidence to the Work and Pensions Committee on universal credit with a specific focus on how self-employed claimants will be treated. We remain concerned about the current structure of universal credit for the self-employed and if major changes are not made there is a risk that those who are already self-employed will be forced to give up their businesses in order to access adequate state support, and it is likely to deter people from starting self-employment.

This submission supplements our earlier written evidence to the Committee and related oral evidence.
