While you are employed in the armed forces you are busy and tax may seem like something your employer takes care of. Unfortunately this is not totally correct: you are responsible for your own taxes and need to understand how the tax system works as well as your rights and responsibilities.

There are special rules for tax purposes that apply to some of the payments made to you both during your service and once you have left the armed forces. In addition, you may be posted overseas with or without your family and wonder what effect this will have on your taxes and state benefits.
