Basis period reform

Basis period reform affects some self-employed individuals and partners in partnerships. Our detailed guidance explains what basis period reform is and who is affected. HMRC have been providing information on overlap relief which some people need to complete their 2023/24 tax return accurately. If you still need this information, you can ask HMRC for this  using the online G-form on GOV.UK before 1 June 2026. After this date this request form will no longer be available. If you miss this deadline then HMRC may still be able to help you if you can’t work out your overlap relief position from your own records.
