HMRC to provide additional support on Making Tax Digital quarterly update deadline day
HMRC have announced that additional support will be available on Saturday 7 November 2026, which is the deadline for submitting the second Making Tax Digital (MTD) quarterly update for 2026/27. The helpline is not usually open on Saturdays.
For taxpayers who need help with Making Tax Digital for Income Tax on the second quarterly update submission deadline day, HMRC will provide:
- Self assessment helpline support from 9am to 3pm for MTD for income tax queries
- Webchat support from 8am to 4pm.
HMRC recommends that taxpayers submit their quarterly updates as soon as possible and contact them during the week if help is needed, when their full telephone service will be available. Telephone support on Saturday 7 November will be for MTD queries only. HMRC say that where a query cannot be resolved immediately on 7 November, they may be able to arrange a callback early the following week.
Agents should note that the Agent Dedicated Line will not be available on Saturday 7 November and they should use the self assessment helpline instead for MTD queries.
The Welsh language helpline and the extra support service will also not be available that day.
